Recruitment
Building on the essential support we provide families across the UK, we are regularly developing our teams. We know there is a lot to do before we can be there for everyone who needs us, so this is an unrivalled opportunity to shape services at the outset to deliver long term lasting impact.
To read more about why this matters, click here to see what our CEO, Lucy Nickson, said about why Day One support is so essential. You can also click here to read our stories of recovery from those whose lives have been changed by catastrophic injury. If this excites and inspires you, we'd love you to join us.
Working at Day One
By working at Day One you will be helping to deliver compassionate and professional support to people living with the life changing effect of a major traumatic injury.
Having achieved status as a registered charity early in 2021, we are keen to employ exceptional people to join our team and help us achieve our ambitions to offer our holistic model of support to all patients admitted to a Major Trauma Centre across England.
We believe that our people should be highly skilled and share the values and ethos of our organisation, principally to deliver support which is patient-led, collaborative and, above all, caring.
In practice this means you will be able to demonstrate, amongst other things, that you treat people with respect, listen carefully to what they need, work collaboratively as part of a close team and that you are supportive and encouraging to others whether they are patients or team members.
In return we are a welcoming and inclusive employer providing a family friendly and flexible working environment. We are encouraging of everyone regardless of background whilst delivering the best quality service to our clients that we can. We’d like you to feel comfortable with us and to be able to bring your authentic self to work. We really value that. We’d like you to ‘be you’ and will offer you the environment to enable you to do just that.
We welcome applications from people who want to be part of our exciting journey as we strive towards working with new partners across the NHS and attract widespread support for our work.

Trustees and special advisors
We have an active board but we would welcome people with business experience to help Day One as we continue to expand.
We’re looking for someone with experience of business leadership, preferably based in the North West of England. We’d also like to hear from you if you have a background in charity fundraising. This experience will be vital for Day One as we look to improve our fundraising strategy and increase the number of corporate partners and supporters. Advise on strategy
Major trauma can affect anyone, and we want Day One to become more representative of all of the communities we work with. We are intentionally looking to add to the diversity of voices our board and we would particularly welcome candidates from black and ethnic minority backgrounds, and those with a disability.
Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.
