Our founder Professor Peter Giannoudis has been recognised twice for his inspirational work.
Peter has been appointed Trauma Research Commission Chairperson-elect for AO Trauma Global Research Commission. He has also been shortlisted for two accolades in the Yorkshire Choice Awards: Inspirational Individual Of The Year and The Kate Granger Award For Outstanding Contribution.
A leading figure at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, Peter began his career 30 years ago and is internationally renowned, performing trauma surgery all over the world and authoring and editing hundreds of articles.
Peter leads the Major Trauma Centre at Leeds, which marks its 10 year anniversary later this year. He set up Day One Trauma Support in Leeds in 2014 to support the families of those who have experienced a major trauma.
Peter begins his year as Chairperson-elect for AO Trauma Global Research Commission in July, before starting a four-year post where he will be responsible for allocating and approving trauma research funding to projects around the globe.

“The nominations for the two Yorkshire Choice Awards are great recognition of Peter’s exceptional work with people who suffer serious injuries and major trauma. They are a reflection of how fondly Peter is regarded by his patients and peers. We would love to see him publicly honoured for all of his incredible work at the awards ceremony later this year.”
The awards are voted for in a public vote which closes in April 2023
