You may be worried about the financial impact of your major traumatic injury, in particular if you are unable to work, either temporarily or longer term. Day One can help by offering benefits and welfare advice.
Day One can provide advice at patients’ bedsides through our Caseworkers. We can also advise family members in the hospital or over the phone on the key benefit entitlements available, including universal credit and sickness and disability benefits.
We may also be able to advise on employment issues, so that you can ensure you know your rights at work, and help with the costs associated with caring needs, or loss of income due to caring responsibilities.
We can signpost you to other services that may be able to provide support to you after you have been discharged from the hospital, as well as highlight any grants which you may be eligible to apply for.
