Benefits and Welfare Advice

We offer benefits and welfare advice, through our partner, Citizens Advice Leeds.

Citizens Advice Leeds

You may be worried about the financial impact of your major traumatic injury, in particular if you are unable to work, either temporarily or longer term. Day One can help by offering benefits and welfare advice, through our partner, Citizens Advice Leeds.

Trained welfare benefits advisors can provide advice at patients’ bedsides and can also speak to family members in the hospital or over the phone, to advise on the key benefit entitlements available, including universal credit and sickness and disability benefits.

They can also advise on your employment issues so that you can ensure you know your rights at work.

Our partner advisors will make a full assessment of your family’s needs including any support available to help those with children and to help with the costs associated with caring needs, or loss of income due to caring responsibilities. They will also link you to services for help managing debt and housing issues.

Our advisors will also signpost you to other services that may be able to provide support to you after you have been discharged from the hospital, as well as highlight any grants which you may be eligible to apply for.
