We may be able to support you with:
- Travel and parking costs for loved ones
- Accommodation near hospital
- Clothing
- Toiletries
- Food
Please make sure you keep receipts for anything on the list above if you have contacted us about emergency funding.
Grants for your ongoing recovery
When you are discharged from hospital, you might find that there are further costs as a result of your injury, for example if you need to make adaptations at home.
Day One can provide small grants to support your recovery journey once you have left hospital. This might include a contribution towards home adaptations, mobility aids that are not readily available through the NHS, or other equipment to aid your recovery and rehabilitation.
Please complete our short referral form to apply for a grant. A caseworker will then be in touch to discuss how we can best support you.
Eligibility for grants is reviewed on a case-by-case basis depending on your or your loved ones’ financial circumstances.
We are currently unable to support with the cost of equipment that is not needed as a direct result of your major traumatic injury or equipment that is funded by the NHS or other statutory services, for example the Local Authority.
We’ll ask for a recommendation from a health professional for any equipment we fund to make sure it won’t hinder your recovery.

Sophie and Rachel's story
“The funding enabled me to stay close to Sophie, I was able to give her so much support knowing I was close to the hotel rather than a three hour journey away.” – Rachel, whose daughter Sophie was injured away from home.
